Field Notes is a small, quiet project rooted in Central Illinois and the inner terrain of a life in progress.
Each piece begins with a moment—light on a barn roof, the hush of early morning, a question that won’t leave—and grows into a short reflection meant to steady the reader for a breath or two.
I’m Paul, drawing on the same grounded, graceful sensibility that shapes the rest of my life: work at the farm, long seasonal walks, careful noticing, and an ongoing search for what feels honest and alive.
Here you’ll find poems, micro-essays, audio readings, photographs, and small invitations to slow down. Nothing urgent. Nothing loud. Just a place to feel a little more connected to yourself, to the landscape, and to the quiet work of being human.
Field Notes is built slowly, by hand, one small moment at a time. You’re welcome to linger.
